The Problem

The evolution of Open Finance in Brazil opened the possibility of transforming the credit score — moving from models based solely on payment history and debt to a much richer view grounded in real, user-consented financial data. Until then, the main alternative was bank scraping — a solution with structural limitations: fragile integrations, security risks, and inconsistent user experience. The challenge was not just replacing a technology — it was turning consented data into reliable signals that genuinely improved credit assessment and user experience.

"A structural limitation turned into a strategic opportunity — by betting on regulated, user-consented data."

The Approach

I was responsible for turning a structural limitation into a strategic opportunity through the adoption of regulated Open Finance. I structured the product vision and articulated the proposal with executives, enabling it to be prioritized as part of the company's strategy. In partnership with the teams, I led the regulatory mapping and the construction of the Open Finance experience in the Serasa app, integrating legal, technical, and product requirements into a simple and trustworthy user journey. The result was an experience that allowed millions of Brazilians to connect their financial accounts, expanding the visibility of their data and making credit analysis more accurate — with a direct impact on score improvement.

Key Learning

"More data doesn't improve the product. What improves the product is turning data into reliable, usable, and understandable signals for the user."
